The issue occurs when you try to install McAfee software to a Windows operating system that uses the SHA-1 hashing algorithm. You will have to update your Windows operating system to SHA-2 as McAfee uses the newer algorithm called SHA-2 hashing for Microsoft root certificate.

- Go to the SEARCH field from your windows by either clicking on the SEARCH field from the bottom of the taskbar or by opening the Start menu.

- Once the Windows Update screen opens, click on the CHECK FOR UPDATES blue button.
- It may take a few minutes for Windows to scan for updates, click on the UPDATE NOW button once updates are displayed.
